January through March brings the calving season to the southern plains, when hundreds of thousands of wildebeest calves are born within a few short weeks, drawing predators in close. It's one of the most dramatic times to be in camp.
June to October is dry season, when animals cluster around rivers and remaining water sources, making sightings easier, and the famous Mara River crossings usually happen from July onward. Days are clear, nights are cool, and it's the most popular window to visit.
The shorter rains in November bring a quieter, greener Serengeti with fewer vehicles on the tracks and lower rates at most camps. If your priority is space and stillness rather than a single big event, this is worth considering.
