A tented camp has a natural advantage over permanent lodges: it's built to be light on the land, using canvas, timber decking and raised platforms rather than concrete, which means less disruption to the ground beneath it.
Water and energy use are managed carefully in an environment where both are limited. Solar power runs much of camp life, and guests are asked to be mindful of water use, particularly during the dry months.
Employing staff from nearby communities is one of the most direct ways a camp supports the region long-term, and many camps, ours included, prioritize local hiring and training over bringing in outside staff.
